TigRun — How to Play & Design Mazes

Picture guide for everyone who plays or builds mazes. Each section matches a real screen in the game. Open Help & manual from the home page or design mode anytime.

1. Home screen

This is the first screen you see. Nothing starts until you pick a maze or open a table.

TigRun home lobby with solo mazes and play with friends
Home lobby.
  • Title and version — confirms you have the latest game after an update (hard refresh if unsure).
  • Help & manual — this guide.
  • build your own — opens the maze designer.
  • Play with friends — your name, filter, private code, start/join tables.
  • Live games — watch or join matches in progress (mini-map preview on each card).
  • Solo mazes — scroll sideways; tap Play solo on any card.

2. Playing a maze

After Play solo or Play in design mode, you control your character on the grid. Eat smaller dots, avoid bigger ones, use abilities from the side lists or bottom bar.

Active gameplay with maze grid and ability columns
Gameplay (desktop).
  • Top bar — time, score, lives, your size, room name, feed/robot counts.
  • Left and right columns — ability names, keyboard hints, and how much you have left (ammo, bombs, etc.).
  • Center — the maze; you are the main character. Arrows move; Space shoots when guns are on.
  • ← Lobby — pause and return home; you can resume later.
Phone layout with ability bar at bottom
Gameplay (phone / tablet).
  • Bottom ability bar — tap Shoot, Bomb, Panel, Aim, Lobby, Settings, etc.
  • Move by swipe, tilt, or invisible joystick — choose in Settings → Player.
Tip: Press Esc or P only when you want to pause. Paused mode dims the screen — that is normal.

3. Design mode overview

Tap build your own on the home screen. You get a blank grid, a top bar, tool drawer, and Settings for all rules.

  1. Pick a feature tab: Maze · Feed · Robots · Doors · Board.
  2. Tap Tools if the drawer is closed — buttons for Wall, Feed, Door, etc.
  3. Click or drag on the grid to paint.
  4. Tap Play to test. Tap Edit to change the layout again.
  5. Tap Settings — each tab is a full screen of switches and numbers. Tap Done — back to game when finished tuning.

4. Build tool panels

Each tab changes the tools in the drawer. What you paint here is what players see when they play your maze.

4a. Maze tools

Maze tools: wall, start, erase, decor
  • ← Lobby / Help — leave or open this guide.
  • Feature tabs — switch between Maze, Feed, Robots, Doors, Board.
  • Wall — solid tiles. Erase — clear a cell. Start — where the player spawns (one per test). Decor — pretty floor art that does not block movement.
Walls define paths. Without a Start tile, test play may not work correctly.

4b. Feed tools

Feed tool with dot size controls
  • Feed tool — places eatable dots.
  • Size − / + — each dot has a number; players can only eat dots smaller than they are. Bigger dots hurt.
Feed mazes often end when all dots are eaten. Mix small and large dots to control difficulty.

4c. Robot tools

Robot and ally placement tools
  • Robot — red enemies that chase and damage.
  • Ally — green helpers (when allies are enabled in Settings → Robots).

4d. Doors & terrain tools

Doors, push blocks, stairs, dynamic walls, terrain
  • Push — crates you slide (Sokoban-style).
  • Door — portal; type a room name (e.g. ROOM2) so stepping through loads that room.
  • Stair — changes floor level (up/down rules in Settings → Match).
  • Dyn — walls that blink open and closed on a timer.
  • Terrain — drag a rectangle: water (slow), lava (hurt), ice (slip), rock (block), bush (robot behavior).

4e. Board setup

Grid size, mirror, preset, theme, multiplayer
  • Grid — columns × rows and cell size (how big each square looks).
  • Mirror — paint on one side and copy to the other (symmetric mazes).
  • Preset — auto-fill walls using difficulty sliders in Settings → World.
  • Theme — emoji art for walls and floors.
  • Multiplayer — host a table so friends load this board.

5. Feature settings

Tap Settings in design mode or during play. You see a row of tabs at the top and options below. Many rows start with Enable … — that switch must be on for the feature to work at all.

After changing settings, tap Done — back to game, then Play again to feel the difference. Numbers like “starting ammo” control how much players begin with; “max” is the carry limit; “drain” is used per second for toggles like invisibility.

6. Settings tabs — every screen

Below is one picture per tab, what the controls mean, and how they affect people playing your maze.

Feed

Feed settings tab
Turn feed dots on/off, auto-scatter on test play, how many dots, flee/chase behavior, damage from touching larger dots.
Players grow by eating; clearing all dots can win the level.

Pickups

Pickup gems settings
Enable colored gems on the floor and the side inventory bars. Pickup sets control how many gem packs appear (life, ammo, bombs, etc.).
Without pickups + resource HUD, combat abilities stay empty.

Health

Health and lives settings
Max health, damage from robots, hit cooldown, lives and respawn timers for multiplayer.

Guns

Guns aim and ammo settings
Gun type, fire rate, bullet speed, ammo counts, aim mode (S / F), shooting through walls (phase charges).

Bombs

Bomb settings
Blast size, fuse, cooldown, whether bombs break walls, bomb inventory (B).

Panels

Deployable wall panel settings
Temporary cover walls (V), how long they last, cooldown, panel count.

Shield

Shield charge settings
Passive hits absorbed before health drops; charge count from gems.

Invisibility

Invisibility settings
Hide from robots while active; energy drains over time (I / ability bar).

Navigate & Follow

Navigate and follow settings
N navigate mode for door routing hints; H follow a friend through doors in multiplayer.

Robots

Robot and ally settings
Enemy/ally counts, auto-place on test play, chase speed, targeting, escalation during long matches.

Rescue

Life share and rescue settings
Touch a friend to share life; rescue bonus when you save someone in danger (multiplayer).

Match

Match end and exit settings
Floating exit timing, score, chat, floor power changes when using stairs.

Player

Player movement settings
Walk speed; phone control style (swipe, tilt, joystick); touch ability bar.

World

World builder and module toggles
Lobby features, which build tools exist, doors/stairs/minimap, puzzles, terrain, room player cap, dynamic wall timings, difficulty weight sliders and live level preview.
If a tool or tab is missing in design mode, check this screen — the matching Enable … switch is probably off.

Groups

Publish and promote maze groups
Enter promote key from your host, publish the current board, group mazes, promote to home carousel.

Sound

Sound music and per-maze audio
Master/music/SFX volumes, per-event loudness, per-maze music style, optional custom sound uploads, visual themes.

7. Sharing mazes on the home page

  1. Finish and test your maze.
  2. Settings → Groups — enter the promote key your host gave you.
  3. Publish current board with a short maze name.
  4. Create a group, add your published mazes, tap Promote to home.
  5. Players see a gold section on the home screen with your pack — same as official solo mazes.

Screenshots in this guide are captured from the live game UI. After updates, run a hard refresh if a picture and your screen disagree.
